As mentioned before I am obsessed with Glastonbury, only went for the first time in 2007 and I have not shut up about it since. I make no apologises for that and I Glastobate every day, whether checking for ticket re-sales for ticketless friends and friends of friends or looking though the forums, again just to make sure I have not missed anything.
I mention above that, "I make no apologises for that and I Glastobate every day", well I should apologise to one person, Mrs Acid, aka Top cat, who always wanted to go to Glastonbury in the late 90s, but I always vetoed the idea saying why would we want to go there, all that mud all those hippies, obviously rubbish. I know better now, however because of ankle biting acidettes it is now virtually impossible for Top cat to make it, opps, bad Captain Acid.

Glastonbury 2009:
Introduction
The only things you ever hear in the news about Glastonbury are the drugs, the mud, the toilets. Considering the liberal supply of all manner of stimulants, and the sheer numbers of people involved, it’s remarkable that violent incidents should continue to be as few and far between as usable lavatories. The fact is that the English Summer just does not seem complete without this epic solstice gathering of the clans. It’s not just the music, even though they regularly have the bands you most want to see. It’s not even the circus field, or the theatre tent, or the green fields complete with stone circle and tipi enclosure, or the healing field, or the wandering performance artists, or the monuments of scrap cars, or the availability of food from every nationality, or the provision of all manner of recreational possibilities twenty-four hours a day. It’s the people.
The great British press are keen to perpetuate the myth that Glastonbury represents a coming together of all the dread-locked Eco-terrorists, the Great Unwashed. What they fail to realise is that for every twig-haired, drug-addled didgeridoo carver called Wurzel you come across, you will meet ten slightly dishevelled, scrumpy-sozzled trainee quantity surveyors called Colin. For the most part, the Glastonbury Festival attracts not those with a tenuous grasp on reality but those with such a firm grasp on it that they understand the need to leave it behind once in a while.
Anyway enough about Glastonbury in general and onto the report.
Wednesday
12.00
Tipi pitched, Cider in one hand, Woo-woo in the other, sun is shinning oh yes, great feeling of knowing what is coming.
14.00
Dressed as pirate, this happens every year.
14.30
Attempt to drink body weight in cider from the cider bus begins, this happens every year.
17.00
Back at tipi for more woo-woos and cider.
18.00
K1no has the first of many naps.
19.00
Walk to The Park with NME, couple of vodka ices in the Park Bar, test out some pills (all duds)
22.00
Back to the cider bus, to meet up with the rest of the lads.
00.30
Still at cider bus, NME and I have some cocaine to keep us going.
01.00
Loony woman appears, we can not shake her off, have pill (dud).
01.30
Meet some new friends, this happens every year
02.00
Go to stone circle with new friends, NME stops every 50 metres shines torch on head and shouts regroup, this is the funniest thing I see all festival, however it works we reach stone circle with new friends.
02.30
At stone circle, sit down with new friends, NME has some CK1 (cocaine and ketamine mixed) in a snuff snorter. I have never had ketamine before so this will be a first time for me. We pass it round one snort each, seems to be taking a while to work, of course always difficult to know how much of each substance you are getting, on four snorts for me, everybody else on three, really start to feel the effects.
03.00
It is as if only our group exists, I can see nor hear anything else, Rich keeps saying, "slow burn" as the effects slowly sneak up on everybody, I am convinced I am going to go back to Wales with the Lady who I was talking to on my left previously, experiencing time dilation and often think I am coming out of it, only to be proved wrong, experience a little nausea, although never close to actually throwing up. I must of looked like a train wreck as I have never had so many people say to me, "are you alright", nothing like that to make you feel paranoid, well I thought I was okay until you said that!
04.30
Effect worn off enough to stand and stagger and stumble back down the hill, pop into the toilets and just manage to avoid the dreaded "ghost wee" and get a lovely long refreshing wee out, oh yes.
05.00
Back at tipi straight to bed, no previous experience with ketamine and I expected to drop straight to sleep as it is an anaesthetic, jeez was I wrong.
05.30
Lying awake in sleeping bag, getting very cold, shaking and shivering uncontrollably, admittedly it is cold outside but this seems excessive.
06.00
As above.
07.00
Can not sleep but no more shivering.
08.00
Give up with this sleeping malarkey get up
Thursday
09.00
Feeling good except obviously tired, no crash or nasty come down at all.
09.30 - 19.00
Wander around site drink a little cider.
23.00
At tipi, NME, Johnny Ferrari and I, place 250mg of Mephedrone in a rizla and swallow it, (parachute), never taken this substance in this way before.
23.15
At dance area need to rush to the toilet for urgent bowel movement, oh yes feel better for that, must be at least a 10lbs lighter
23.20 - 23.30
Definitely coming up now, warm exciting feeling coming from belly and chest, tingles in legs, very alert, stimulated.
23.30 - 00.30
Now at The Glade area, dancing and feeling very good, feels different a little better than the previous time on this substance, getting plenty of euphoria, well being, and very stimulated. Johnny Ferrari in his poncho, is doing particularly well also.
00.30
Back at Dance Village, probably re-dosed 250mg at around this time, do not lose another 10lbs on this occasion.
01.00 - 02.30
Re-dose has kicked in big time, right back where I was before.
02.30
Re-dosed again around this time, on this occasion no hitting the same high as before, although still worthwhile
04.30
Back at tipi, I am now aware that I have done 750mg in one session similar amount as before (Egg Kings Cross) and I am worried about a similar crash.
05.00
Breakfast ciders are interrupted be ever increasing rain, forced inside tipi for sleep.
05.00 - 09.00
Do not feel like I sleep however I must have surely got a little sleep.
Friday
09.00
Get up, very relieved to find out that I have no crash whatsoever, I am however tired, not that big a surprise that one.
09.30 - 20.00
Wander around site see some bands drink some cider and Woo-woos, general festival things.
20.00 - 21.00
Relaxing at tipi, k1no tries 250mg of Mephedrone, for the first time and quickly wins gurn of the year award, he literally can not move his jaw, we reassure him the effect is not permanent. This was however unbelievably amusing, poor lad.
23.00
Parachute 250mg what I have been sold as MDMA power, had this been what it purported to be, that would have been one heavy dose and I would have been on one hardcore trip baby, however it was not. I had the exact same feeling as the previous night, even including the, oh dear bathroom time effect, this does not happen to me on MDMA. I start to come up, the tingles, but I never make it. For some reason this freaks me out a little and rather than trying again, maybe with Mephedrone, I call the research part of the night off and switch back to vodka red bull and cider.
05.00
Breakfast ciders at tent.
05.30 - 08.00
Again do not feel like I sleep, however at 08.00 tipi turns into a sauna and I get up, NME and K1no unfazed by inferno.
Saturday
08.00
No crash, as expected or hangover just tired
09.00 - 00.30
Actually see some bands drink some cider.
00.30 - 03.00
Head to late night areas, do not take anything for some reason, it is the last night what the hell I am saving myself for I just do not know. NME gives me a cheeky pill at about 02.00 and 10 minutes later declared he is going back to the tent, I would not have taken it had I thought I was researching on my own, the other guys are with me but none are "researching". Issue is resolved as I can barely feel anything from the pill, I must be a hard head in this respect as NME was buzzing on one of these the previous night.
03.30
Back at tipi a good night sleep is had.
Sunday
10.00
Get up nice breakfast is had, we decide to leave to miss traffic, I am missing the kids, and the van driver really wants to go.
12.00
Back in the van driving off site.
Debriefing
Do not seem to need anything like the amount of sleep I thought.
I will never understand, why I never made a bigger attempt to on the Friday night to allow the drugs to work, another re-dose would definitely have done it. However all this is 20/20 hindsight, and at the time I was being overly cautious which is no bad thing. This experience did prompt me whilst at Bestival later in the year to push the research much harder much further to see what the limits were before the drugs stopped working and the side effects exceeded the benefits. It turns out the limits were further than I thought, what a weekend that was.
